Larry Gagosian opened his first gallery in Los Angeles in 1980, specialising in modern and contemporary art. Five years later, he extended his activities to New York, inaugurating his first Chelsea Gallery with works from Emily and Burton Tremaine’ s Pop Art collection. Over 30 years, the Gagosian Gallery has become a global network, with sixteen exhibition spaces in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, Paris, Rome, Athens, Geneva and Hong Kong. This gallery’ s intent is to present the works of major international artists. In parallel, exhibitions are prepared and shown on renowned artists, such as Francis Bacon. The gallery also publishes exhibition catalogues and artists’ monographs, as well as catalogues raisonnés. Since 2012, a magazine on the gallery’ s art and artists is published four times a year.
